The Children’s Hour

This is the first real opinion piece that I have written. We face a terrible crisis in our country and it is called “debt”. While we differ as to how to manage it, it has been shunned by this Administration for too long; in point of fact, the new healthcare law has put us in a position of serious financial consequence. I respect the office of President of the United States and the President as well and wish him well for as he does well, we all do well. This President, over the course of his Administration, has shown me nothing but an amateurism that in these times begs commentary. I would also suggest you read a piece by Dorothy Rabinowitz that I believe sets the context of these comments.

The Children’s Hour

Today Karl Rove wrote an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal entitled Amateur Hour at the White House. I read it and I was struck by the feeling that what he wrote was just what one would logically anticipate after the last 32 months of this Administration.

Why all the fuss? Is anyone really surprised by this concatenation of events? I mean really, REALLY?
From Stimulus One to this evening’s anticipated Son Of Stimulus, or Stimulus-Light, this Administration has been a Ted Mack Dream, the supernal Amateur Hour All-Star!

Remember the initial act of turfing the bust of Winston Churchill back to the UK and then following it up with the gift of eternal hubris-an iPod for The Queen with The President’s favorite songs. LOL! But laugh with embarrassment.

Then we were treated to the incident of the “Reset” Button that didn’t say reset! The President tried to placate Putin’s Puppet so he threw two allies under the proverbial bus in favor of trying to get the Bear to dance, but the bear stepped on The President’s toes, all over them.

Ah, Stimulus One; remember that act. Guaranteed 8 percent unemployment with shovel ready jobs. Humph, the only thing the President shoveled at us was Shinola, only because he didn’t know the difference between it and its twin!

Still not convinced that the last two weeks were not predictable? OK, how about going overseas and not only apologizing for America, but also publicly declaring that American Exceptionalism was piffle? Apologizing to the European people for whom we spilled how much blood and expended how much treasure in the last century so that they could have the opportunity to hear our own President mock the very thing that saved them… twice?!

Moving on, we come to the White House Czars; what in the name of sanity does that tell you about Mr. Obama? That he respects the Constitution? That he understands the concept of separation of powers? That he respects the intelligence of the American People? That he avers the concentration of power? We haven’t even spoken of the people he actually placed in the position of “Czar” and what their chances would have been to stand up to Senate scrutiny if the President followed the same Constitution he swore to preserve, protect and defend.
On and on and on, I mean Jimmy Carter must be the happiest man in America!

Then we come to summer on “The Vineyard.” Is there anyone home in the White House with a whit of common sense? The country is in the worst economic shape in which it has been since the Depression, and Mr. Obama goes to the bastion of the very wealth against which he rails! Oops! Firmly ensconced and playing 72 in his island retreat, he then informs us that he is calling for a Joint Session of Congress, he, himself. Earth to Mr. Obama, there is protocol even for you! Worse, the speech is so important that he is going to finish his vacation and then Barter with Boehner (a new game show) over a time, and he settles for right before the opening NFL season game!!!!

What I find so hard to believe is that a man who came to the White House with so much promise and so much potential has surrounded himself with people who have permitted this rapid and crushing fall. Send out the clowns! Where are the adults?

Rome is burning and Nero is fiddling, or maybe he’s playing golf…on “The Vineyard.”
So, Mr. Rove, let me ask you, what else is new under the sun?

  2. You get an A+ from me on this article. I’m sure you aren’t looking for approval, but you have really made this content very interesting.

  3. Almost all of whatever you say is supprisingly precise and that makes me wonder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light previously. Your piece truly did turn the light on for me personally as far as this particular topic goes. Nevertheless at this time there is one factor I am not really too comfortable with and while I try to reconcile that with the actual main idea of the issue, let me see exactly what all the rest of the subscribers have to point out.Nicely done.
