The beauty and the wonder of the Declaration of Independence is that it is not just a declaration from one state to another, but it is also a declaration of the right of man to be an independent being within that independent state. This independence is God given and entitles us only to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It does not declare that the government, formed by the will of and ultimately responsible to the People, provides us with anything. It is exactly the opposite; that is, we form the government, we provide for the government. What it does imply, however, is that armed with our unalienable rights and our free will, we ourselves create the very things from which we may prosper; that we will build unto us a Nation so unique and so opportune, that our children and our children’s children will prosper and grow armed with that same ethic upon which such a Nation was built.
What is happening today in our country is nothing short of a power grab, and the real prize, the real crown jewel, is healthcare; to be the sole source of healthcare for the entire country.
We see that we now have Czars in the White House who oversee many aspects of our lives and are not answerable to Congress but only to the President. We have created a new dependent class of unemployed people by giving them 99 months of pay, thus making them beholden to the very Government that pays them, and in turn, creating more despondence and depression. We have before us the results of The Great Society where entire swaths of the population receive their room and board from Washington and the family structure of many of these people has been ripped asunder. We provide either free or reduced price school lunch and breakfast for 29 million and 9 million children respectively, “the number of students certified for free meals was about 25 percent higher than the number who appeared to be eligible. To this we now add a healthcare law that clearly is designed to drive the population to a single payer system; that payer being the Government, funded by those left amongst us who actually pay income taxes. Think of it, 300 million people dependent upon their Government to determine the extent and nature of their personal healthcare. The list of dependencies goes on and on and on.
What we will be left with is a Nation of dependent People who will no longer need to exercise the free will that they were given or partake of the unalienable rights, which are theirs. There will no longer be a need for or a thing called American Exceptionalism; we will have exchanged that for the handout. There will no longer be a need for productivity. We will have exchanged that for a meal. There will no longer be a need for personal responsibility because there will not be anything left for which to be responsible. There will no longer be a need for free will and freedom. We will have exchanged that for the benevolence and largesse of a government. We will no longer be a free People.
