We have come to the real cross in the road with what is, de facto, a government-imposed plan to devour our healthcare. I have debated posting this for publication as I feel that we each have our differing opinions and I do not wish to encroach on those feelings and viewpoints you each may hold. But we, as a society, really have come to an Edmund Burke moment, and not only for healthcare but for our very economic survival.
Sadly, the fiscal consequences of the current version of the Affordable Healthcare Act are so dire, that our way of life and that of our children and grandchildren will be so damaged, that the very healthcare they now enjoy and the manner in which they live will be gone forever. There’s will be the new class of Americans, bearing a tax burden that we all know is not sustainable. They will be slaves to the very Government to whom they give power.
Who amongst us truly believes that this plan will be deficit neutral? Who amongst us really believes that this plan will reform anything other than to bloat the already wasteful Washington spending that will suffocate our posterity? Who amongst us believe that our own care, as the new aged generation, will be equal to or better than what we are fortunate enough to access today? Who amongst us believe the government of the people has the right to force any American citizen to buy health insurance?
No one! This is fiscal nymphomania; this “plan” will gut our country and will ultimately lead to a loss of our economic and personal freedoms. No taxation for Americans with income under $200,000? Really…?! Analysis of the taxes raised under the current House Bill from “gold-plated” health insurance policies reveals that of all the money raised via this avenue, 90% will come from Americans with income of $200,000 or less; 5% of that tax will come from Americans with income less than $50,000. If you doubt this perspective you may wish to read the Wall Street Journal article entitled The Worst Bill Ever.
The choice is ours. What road do we take? What will be the future for our children and grandchildren? What will be the fate of our economic and personal liberty? “… Governments are instituted amongst men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
So what do we do, what do you do? The first step was taken in the mid-term elections. Now, If you are really concerned about these issues and feel we must take a step back, that we must look closely at The Affordable Healthcare Act and understand it, then you must get in the game. Read about the issues, know the facts, write your Congressional representatives, talk to your employer about things such as health savings accounts, start a blog…do something! If you do nothing, then, as Edmund Burke suggested, All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. The evil here is fiscal enslavement and lines so long to wait and see a real doctor, that you will truly understand the caution of being careful for that which you ask.
It’s your choice. It’s your move!
